Brian leads occupational safety, health initiatives, and regulatory compliance at Tradepoint Atlantic and its subsidiaries—Tradepoint Terminals, Tradepoint Rail, and Maryland Materials Management—a 3,300-acre logistics hub. He also oversees Tradepoint Atlantic’s training and investment program, the Empowerment Academy, fostering partnerships with minority-, women-, and veteran-owned small businesses. Previously, he served as Director of Safety & Environmental Stewardship for the American Waterways Operators and was recognized as a National Safety Council Rising Star of Safety in 2020. His earlier career experience includes government relations, advocacy, and trade association management. A proud UMBC alum, Southwestern Baltimore County native, and 2023 Leadership Baltimore County graduate, Brian resides in Old Ellicott City and actively engages in civic, political, and philanthropic efforts across the region.

Zozscha Bomhard ‘93, mechanical engineering, is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Right Ascension 231 LLC, an aerospace services company specializing in cloud-native ground systems and mission operations automation. A dedicated UMBC volunteer since 2014, she serves on the AABOD, the Mechanical Engineering Department’s Industrial Advisory Board, and mentors students in the Center for Women in Technology (CWIT). Zozscha also holds a master’s in business from Johns Hopkins University.

Lisa Nissley-Titman ‘01, political science, has built a career in government relations and public policy with a focus on public health, the environment, and environmental justice. For 15 years, she served with the Maryland Department of the Environment and now leads as the Director of Legislative Services & Policy Development at the Motor Vehicle Administration. Lisa also serves on the Women’s Legislators of Maryland Foundation. She lives in Ellicott City with her family, along with their cats, chickens, and ducks, and enjoys traveling and supporting her children’s sports activities.

Marian Saunders White is the owner of The Refinery, a coaching and consulting firm that supports entrepreneurs and business entities across the U.S. She holds a bachelor’s degree in information systems from UMBC, an MBA from the University of Phoenix Maryland Campus, and a Doctor of Business Administration from Taft University.
Marian is a certified Life Coach, a Project Management Professional (PMP), and an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and the National Contract Management Association (NCMA). Beyond her professional expertise, she is a published author, dynamic trainer and facilitator, and an avid traveler who enjoys exploring new cultures and perspectives.

Monique is a proud UMBC Class of ’92 alum and is a member of the Alumni Association Board of Directors. Monique is an avid public servant and is passionate about helping others. Monique was initiated in 1990 with the Lambda Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at UMBC. She is the president of the Baltimore County Alumnae Chapter where she is using her role to strengthen alliances and building partnerships with other Baltimore County organizations to extend the outreach of service provided in the community.
Monique started her career at the Social Security Administration in 1991 through UMBC’s coop student program. She continuously encourages students to take advantage of this worthwhile program. Most recently, Monique was selected as the Deputy Associate Commissioner for the Office of Electronic Services and Systems Integration where she has the responsibility of planning, directing and evaluating electronic initiatives, automation support, and information technology activities for the Office of Hearing Operations nationwide.

Aside from her B.A. in political science from UMBC, Laura holds a M.A. in community planning from University of Maryland, Baltimore. Since 2003, Laura has served as the CEO of the Maryland Association of Community Services (MACS), a non-profit association of over 120 agencies providing community-based support for people with developmental disabilities. In 2015, Laura was named one of the 51 Most Influential Marylanders by The Daily Record, and in 2017 they named her and the organization she leads an Innovator of the Year.

Kevin Johnson ‘15, mechanical engineering, is a systems engineer at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. During his time at UMBC, he was a CWIT scholar, served on the CWIT Student Council, and was an active member and leader in Tau Beta Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. After graduation, he served as president of the UMBC Chapter of Young Alumni. Kevin continues to give back through mentoring and professional events with CWIT. He lives in Laurel, Maryland, with his wife, a fellow Retriever, and remains deeply committed to supporting the UMBC community.

Nate graduated from UMBC in 2011 with dual degrees in chemistry and political science. He then obtained his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Columbia University and spent six years at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. At MSKCC, Nate developed a combination therapy for pancreatic cancer and radiation resistant brain cancer. He recently joined Solvias as a business development manager and actively participates in UMBC alumni outreach events around the NYC metropolitan area.

Brian grew up in Baltimore County and enrolled at UMBC as an undergraduate in 2013. He was named to the Dean’s and President’s lists on multiple occasions throughout his undergraduate career, and ultimately graduated in 2017 with a degree in physics. Outside of academics, Brian is a brother in the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, where, as an active member, he served in various roles including Academic Chair. Brian currently resides in Baltimore and works at T. Rowe Price as an Associate Portfolio Manager. In his free time, he enjoys distance running, cooking, and reading.

Julius Maina graduated in 2008 with a degree in interdisciplinary studies. While at UMBC, Julius was involved in the Black Student Union, the Interdisciplinary Studies Council of Majors, the National Society of Black Engineers, and the African Student Association. Since graduating in 2008, Julius has received an M.A. from Bowie State University and a J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law. He has also served as adjunct faculty at Morgan State University and serves on the boards of of O.U.R. Dream Foundation Startup Founder, RepusNFT Startup Advisor, GrantVest Startup Advisor, Fiberx Startup Advisor, and K’ept Health.

More than 30 years ago, Vanita became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. at UMBC where she received a bachelor’s degree in health science and policy. She earned a master’s in distance education from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Vanita is currently a Senior Manager at the American Institute of Ultrasound Medicine, she has been married to Aaron Murry, Sr. for 26 years and they have two children, Alexis and Aaron, Jr.

Jeremy is based in Atlanta where he works for Accenture, specializing in consulting for large-scale payroll systems implementation programs. He was a first-generation college student at UMBC, and is always passionate about sharing the power of education. His tenure on the Board has been focused on building connections with and engaging out-of-state alumni. In his spare time, he loves to travel and experiencing cultures and food from all over the world. Although he has left Maryland, he loves his Maryland blue crabs and still occasionally shouts out “O!” during the final verse of the national anthem.

Nancy currently serves as a technical director in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of Minority Health the Data Analytics and Research Group. In this role, she works across CMS and with other agencies to develop, strategize, and implement initiatives to improve health equity data collection and analysis. A proud UMBC Retriever, Nancy earned her B.S. in biological sciences as a Meyerhoff Scholar and MARC U*STAR Scholar. She then earned her M.S. in epidemiology and Ph.D. in gerontology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.

Leslie is a native of Baltimore. She earned her B.A. in health science and policy from UMBC and continued her schooling at University of Baltimore graduating with an MBA. Leslie has worked in the Medicaid managed care industry for over 20 years. She is a proud, lifelong member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Manpreet Suri, ’14, M.S ’15, information systems, uses human centered design principles to connect with customers, stakeholders, and users while creating data-driven products that are scalable, ethical, and accessible. He is driven by understanding and catering to human behavior inside the technology space. Manpreet has worked across a range of industries and is fascinated by the potential of technology, the insights that data enables, and how they are intertwining at the cusp of every discipline to improve our world.

Mariam “Mimi” Yaldram ‘20, history, is a published author, educator, and community advocate dedicated to advancing equity, inclusion, and global understanding. A Fulbright Taiwan alumna, she currently teaches special education through Teach for America in Washington, D.C. Mariam serves on the Alumni Board of Governance at Montgomery College, the UMBC AABOD, and the Fulbrighters with Disabilities Board, where works to promote accessibility and inclusion. She also mentors first-generation and nontraditional students at the Universities at Shady Grove Campus and co-facilitates a local writers’ group. Miriam lives with her family in Maryland and finds joy in writing, mentoring, and fostering creative community.

Brigid Zuknick ‘09, dance, was a Linehan Artist Scholar and now serves as Chief of Engagement with Arts for Learning Maryland, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to transforming education through the arts. Her previous roles include Director of Programs and Development for SixDegrees.org and Director of Philanthropy and Community Engagement for the Baltimore School for the Arts Foundation. A passionate advocate for arts education, Brigid lives in Baltimore with her husband, Gregory, and their two daughters.
