Kiplinger again names UMBC a “Best Value College” for strong academics and affordability

UMBC has again been named a Best Value College for 2016 by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, appearing on both the Best Value Public University list and “top 300” national Best Value University list. Kiplinger has recognized UMBC as a Best Value College for seven consecutive years. This ranking recognizes affordable four-year schools with outstanding academics. UMBC named a top Baltimore workplace for 2015

For the third consecutive year, the Baltimore Sun has named UMBC as one of the region’s top places to work. UMBC was the only government agency and the only university to rank among the top 100 workplaces in three size bands. With about 1900 employees, UMBC is considered a large employer. Organizations were ranked within bands by their scores on a confidential employee survey that measured job satisfaction, organizational health, and engagement. Business Insider ranks UMBC one of America’s 50 most underrated colleges

Business Insider has placed UMBC at #32 on a list of the 50 most underrated colleges in America. The site combined the PayScale ranking with those produced by U.S. News & World Report to discover colleges and universities with a large disparity between their college rank and their salary rank. The group ranked more than 1,000 colleges and universities based on their reputation and graduates’ mid-career salaries, paying particular attention to schools with lower U.S. News rankings but stronger than expected career salaries. Times Higher Education recognizes UMBC as a top world university in 2015-16 rankings

Times Higher Education (THE) has named UMBC one of world’s top universities for the fourth consecutive year. THE World University Rankings “judge world class universities across all of their core missions—teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook,” utilizing metrics in 13 categories. The 2015-16 list of top 800 global universities includes 147 in the United States and highlights three in Maryland: UMBC, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Maryland, College Park. Universities in the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland were also well represented in the 2015-16 list. The Business Journals Ranks UMBC Among Top 100 Public Colleges

The Business Journals released their 2015 list of top U.S. public colleges today, ranking UMBC at No. 78. The list identifies public universities and colleges that offer the best educational experiences to their students. Universities were ranked according to selectivity, retention and graduation rates, reputation, tuition and housing cost, and diversity. Data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the 2012 American Community Survey helped inform the rankings. UMBC scored especially high marks in selectivity, advancement, diversity and community.
