Why Minor in User Experience (UX) and Human-Centered Computing (HCC)?

The Minor in UX and Human-Centered Computing (HCC) provides students with essential skills in interactive design, user experience (UX), and user research—high-demand areas across industries. Through courses focused on design thinking, agile prototyping, and human-centered problem solving, students gain hands-on experience in building more effective and inclusive technology.

Open to all UMBC students (except BTA majors), this 18-credit minor complements a wide range of majors. It includes three core courses in systems analysis, human factors, and user interface design, plus three electives that allow students to explore topics like ethical tech, healthcare informatics, data visualization, or interdisciplinary teamwork in global engineering contexts.
