Why Major in Chemistry?

Discover different areas of chemistry, including analytical, physical, and organic chemistry, and customize your degree with options that match your interests.

You have two options when majoring in chemistry at UMBC: a bachelor of arts degree gives you more room for the electives that personally interest you or a bachelor of science (which is an American Chemical Society–certified degree) with more advanced classes in chemistry, biochemistry, and mathematics.
