In Good Company – Isaac Kinde ’05, BioSci

Isaac Kinde ’05, biological sciences, has a habit of surrounding himself with the right people. As a high school student in Redlands, Calif., he ranked at the top of his class, applying to the top national research universities. Then, as a Meyerhoff Scholar at UMBC, he collaborated with like-minded undergraduate researchers to examine the molecular makeup of HIV. Maxwell ’02, LLC, Appointed CEO of Prince George’s Schools

Kevin Maxwell ’02, Ph.D., language, literacy, and culture, was recently appointed chief executive officer of Prince George’s public schools. Maxwell has a long history in public education, having spent more than 20 years as a teacher, principal and chief educational administrator of Prince George’s County. Former UMBC women’s lacrosse player Jen Kasper O’Brien ’09, American studies, has been named the head coach of the new Virginia Commonwealth University’s women’s lacrosse program, set to start intercollegiate competition in 2015-16. Meyerhoff Alums Featured in “Where Are They Now”

Now celebrating its 25th year, the Meyerhoff Scholars Program boasts more than 800 graduates, many of whom have gone on to pursue careers as scientists, researchers, engineers and doctors. A group of UMBC theatre alumni have something to say about life in the arts, and they’re saying it with a new Baltimore-based web series, B.F.A. On the group’s Indiegogo fundraising page, they explain the series: B.F.A. is a new web series about young theatre artists in Baltimore. Lax Alumni Invited to U.S. National Team Tryouts

Four UMBC alumni are among the 98 invitees for the 2014 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships, where the U.S. men seek to defend their title in Denver, Colorado on July 10-19, 2014. Attackmen Brendan Mundorf ’07 and Drew Westervelt ’07 will attempt to earn their second consecutive team selection.
