As one of the leading programs within UMBC’s popular STEM offerings, the Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences offers the flexibility to build a skill set that’s all your own. With full immersion into research projects, hands-on learning in the labs and independent study opportunities, you’ll gain the skills to stand out to a future employer, whether it’s in a hospital, laboratory, or business setting.

This foundational program was designed to be combined with all your interests – including everything from art to business. It offers you the support and connectivity to pursue careers in a variety of science-specific roles or prep you for postgraduate entry into medical school.

What Are My Career Options Studying Biological Sciences?

Many of our students join the program in preparation to apply to health professional programs such as dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine or pursue a path in academia. Graduates of the program have found success across a number of careers in biomedical and pharmaceutical fields as well as research.
