On June 19, Towson University will be hosting a career fair for alums of local universities. The UMBC Alumni Association and the Career Services Center has partnered with MyWorkster* to help alumni find high-quality career opportunities in a variety of fields. Oh Sew Rewarding: Mimi Dietrich ’70 Teaches Quilting to 14,000

Mimi Dietrich ‘70, American studies, made her first quilt in 1975 as a gift to her oldest son, Jon. Now, 40 years later, she has a great many accomplishments in her sewing kit. She has written 17 quilting books, helped stitch the American flag that was displayed at Camden Yards on Opening Day of April 2014, and was named International Association of Professional Quilters Teacher of the year for 2013. Jazz Enthusiasts Come Together to Raise $1,000 for Scholarships

Every year, the Chapter of Black and Latino Alumni hosts a Jazz Brunch as an opportunity to bring together alumni while raising money and awareness for the Second Generation and Esperanza Scholarships. Nominate an Outstanding Alum or Faculty Member!

The UMBC Alumni Association is accepting nominations for this year’s Alumni Awards ceremony. Now in its 26th year, this is the premier alumni event designed to recognize and celebrate professional and personal achievements and service to the university. Four different types of awards are given: Outstanding Alumnus/a of the Year, Distinguished Service, Young Alumni Rising Star and Outstanding Faculty (the latter is a new award category designed to acknowledge extraordinary teaching).
