Directions to UMBC

UMBC is located at about 10 minutes from downtown Baltimore and about 25 minutes from I-495. We’re located immediately off I-95 and close to I-695, and travel to the campus is easy and straightforward. We look forward to welcoming you.

If you’re heading to destinations in our Performing Arts and Humanities Building or the Fine Arts Building, evening (after 5 p.m.) and weekend parking is available for free in Lot 8, directly adjacent to the buildings. Apple Maps, Google Maps, and Waze all know where Lot 8 is — search for UMBC Lot 8 (or Lot 8A), and you’ll be delivered right to the parking lot.

If you prefer written directions —

From Baltimore and points north, proceed south on I-95 to exit 47B. Take Route 166 toward Catonsville and then follow signs to the campus.

From I-695, take Exit 12C — Wilkens Avenue west. Continue to the roundabout, and then proceed 3/4 way around to enter campus.

From Washington and points south, proceed north on I-95 to exit 47B. Take Route 166 toward Catonsville and then follow signs to the campus.

For evening and weekend events in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building and the Fine Arts Building (CADVC), you may park for free in Lot 8. Proceed from either direction around Hilltop Circle until you reach Hilltop Road, and then take Hilltop Road toward the center of campus. Take an immediate left into Lot 8 and park.

For the Albin O. Kuhn Library Gallery, daytime paid visitor parking is available on the top floor of the Walker Avenue Garage ($2.00 per hour from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. payable by MasterCard, Visa or exact currency only). To reach the Walker Avenue Garage, circle around Hilltop Circle from either direction until you arrive at Walker Avenue. Take Walker Avenue toward the center of campus. The garage will be on your right, with visitor parking on the top deck.
