Why Major in Design?

UMBC’s B.F.A in Design will broaden and expand a student’s formal creative design vocabulary, while introducing you to new ways of thinking about images, time, space, and audience. You will gain the skills necessary to use words and images to visually communicate ideas. Aspiring designers are invited to join our internationally renowned program that focuses on addressing complex questions in visual communication.

You’ll graduate with a strong set of critical thinking and creative skills to set you up for future success in the media and design industries.
