Why Major in English?

Two tracks give you the opportunity to explore written and spoken text to prepare you for a wide variety of careers.

The Literature Track focuses on the broad range and diverse traditions of literature written in English. You will also strengthen your writing skills. The Communication and Technology Track focuses on written and spoken communication and new information technologies. In this track, you will explore print-based, digital, visual, and multi-modal media.

What Are My Career Options Studying English?

An English degree will give you a great foundation for a wide variety of fields, including business, communications, education, journalism, law, public relations, and publishing. Some English majors also go on to graduate studies.

Lucille Parkinson McCarthy Endowed Scholarship
This is a need and merit-based scholarship (minimum 3.0 GPA) for undergraduate student majoring in English who has an interest in Rhetoric and Composition Studies or the teaching of writing.
