Pianorama

Join us for Pianorama, a keyboard spectacular featuring UMBC faculty Hui-Chuan Chen, Teodora Adzharova, and Audrey Andrist performing works for two pianos and piano four hands by John Corigliano, Francis Poulenc, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and Antonín Dvořák.

Pianist Hui-Chuan Chen leads a diverse career as a concert pianist, chamber musician, and educator. She has performed widely throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia, and has appeared in major performance venues, including Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall), the Kennedy Center Concert Hall, and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. She has featured at the Aspen Music Festival, the National Gallery of Art and the Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., the Barge Music Festival in New York City. She is an affiliate artist at UMBC.

As an active soloist and sought-after chamber musician, Bulgarian pianist Teodora Adzharova performs throughout the Baltimore-Washington region, frequently collaborating with musicians from both the Peabody Institute and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She has had numerous appearances at the Sundays at Three Concert Series, Summer Chamber Music at Roland Park, Montpelier Arts Center, Washington College, Towson University, University of Maryland, Silo Hill, and as part of the Hedgelawn Series. On many occasions, Theodore’s recordings have been broadcast on APM’s Performance Today. She is a visiting lecturer at UMBC.

Hailed as a “stunning pianist with incredible dexterity”, Canadian pianist Audrey Andrist has thrilled audiences around the globe, from North America to Japan, China and Germany with her “passionate abandon” and “great intelligence.” Ms. Andrist grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan, and while in high school traveled three hours one-way for piano lessons with William Moore, himself a former student of famed musicians Cécile Genhart and Rosina Lhévinne. She completed Masters and Doctoral degrees at the Juilliard School with Herbert Stessin, and garnered first prizes at the Mozart International, San Antonio International, Eckhardt-Gramatté, and Juilliard Concerto Competitions. She is an affiliate artist at UMBC.
