Why Earn Your Certificate in Philosophy, Law, and Politics?

Studying philosophy teaches students to think logically, systematically, and critically, which will apply to many fields, such as business, law, medicine, and science.

This certificate is useful for students looking to gain a strong background in the philosophical foundations of law, legal studies, political theory, and public policy. Students will take a series of four thematically linked upper-division philosophy courses focusing on different topics related to law and politics, such as political philosophy, philosophy of law, human rights, justice and climate change, harm in morality and law, freedom, determinism, and moral responsibility, Kant’s moral and political philosophy, and Hegel and Marx.
