UMBC’s GIScience Certificate provides students with essential skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, and Cartography, enabling them to analyze and address complex geographical and environmental issues. This program is designed to equip students with practical and theoretical knowledge in spatial data analysis, mapping techniques, and the use of geospatial technology. Core courses cover foundational and advanced GIS applications, while electives allow for deeper exploration into topics such as landscape ecology, watershed analysis, and the human-environmental systems interface.
