UMBC’s Ph.D. in atmospheric physics offers excellent training in disciplines such as remote sensing, atmospheric modeling, and climate dynamics. Graduates frequently continue on to postdoctoral fellowships in academia, high-tech jobs in private industry, or roles in government labs or agencies such as NOAA and the National Center for Atmospheric Research. The UMBC physics department offers a wealth of opportunities while still being small enough to promote a close-knit, collegial environment, including an active Physics Graduate Student Association.
