Known for presenting works of technical precision, joyful ease, dramatic relevance, and playful unpredictability, Baltimore Dance Project presents a diverse program of eight thrilling works, from tap and contemporary dance to poetry and spoken word. The evening also includes Infinite Transformations, an immersive multi-disciplinary installation that can be experienced prior to the performances.

Join us for Infinite Transformations, a multimedia, transdisciplinary installation presented in conjunction with performances by Baltimore Dance Project on February 9 and 10. Conceived by Foad Hamidi (assistant professor of information systems) and Linda Dusman (professor of music) and created as part of an Imaging Research Center (IRC) Faculty Fellowship, the project brings together the fields of bio art, audio design, and visualizations, with a creative team involving Lee Boot, Ryan Zuber, and Alan Wonneberger, and with choreography by Carol Hess.

Artful Conversations: An Evening with Misty Copeland

Join us for a special evening with Misty Copeland, the first African American female Principal Dancer with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre and New York Times best selling author. In conversation with Kimberly R. Moffitt, Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at UMBC, Copeland will explore a variety of topics related to dance and her career. The evening will open with three works performed by UMBC dance students.

Makini: Transitions into TERRESTRIAL

The Center for Innovation, Research, and Creativity in the Arts (CIRCA) presents choreographer, performer, and video artist Makini, who will discuss his creative work, based between traditional lands of the Tutelo-Saponi speaking peoples and lands of the Lenape peoples. He will explore a new body of work, tentatively titled terrestrial.

Maryland Arts Summit

The Maryland Arts Summit, produced by Maryland Citizens for the Arts and hosted at UMBC, is a statewide conference presented by and for the Maryland arts sector, which includes, but is not limited to, arts advocates, arts educators and teaching artists, independent artists, arts organizations, youth, community stakeholders, arts and entertainment districts, county arts agencies of Maryland, public artists, boards of directors, and folklife artists.
