Faces of Love

Join us for a special afternoon with soprano Seyoung Jeong, pianist Edwin Kim, and cellist DoYeon Kim, as they explore Faces of Love, featuring works by Robert and Clara Schumann, alongside five of the most popular Korean contemporary art songs.
In this program, the artists explore the profound emotional landscape of Robert Schumann’s Frauenliebe und -leben (“Woman’s Love and Life”), an 1840 song cycle penned the year of Schumann’s marriage with pianist Clara Wieck. Between each of the eight songs of the cycle, in which the soprano symbolizes Clara, and the piano represents Robert, a spoken narration will guide the audience through their poignant story.
The concert will also feature Clara Schumann’s Drei Romanzen for Cello and Piano (1853), and will close with all three artists performing five of the most popular Korean contemporary art songs, also singing about faces of love.
