About
After receiving my PhD, I did post-doctoral work at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. I was also an adjunct instructor at the University of Pennsylvania in 2004-2005. I came to UMBC in 2005 with a dual appointment as a lecturer and as the Director of the Chemistry Tutorial Center. I was promoted to senior lecturer in 2012 and principal lecturer in 2020.Research interests
I am involved in educational research as it applies to large enrollment introductory chemistry courses. Most of my efforts have been directed towards introductory organic chemistry. I was also actively involved as member of the chemistry team of the Gates transfer alignment grant, which is a partnership between UMBC, AACC, CCBC, HCC, and MC.Teaching interests
I have taught the introductory chemistry classes in both general chemistry (freshman) and organic chemistry (sophomore), although organic chemistry is my main focus. The Chemistry Tutorial Center services these courses as well. I also teach a summer workshop to incoming freshman covering this content in a bridge program.Education
