Baltimore City Admissions Advisory Group

UMBC is a dynamic public research university integrating teaching, research, and service to benefit the citizens of Maryland. To this end, UMBC is committed to increasing the representation of Baltimore City students so that they may both contribute to and benefit from the rich opportunities for study that an Honors University offers.

Charge

The Baltimore City Admissions Advisory Group will serve in a consultative capacity to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation on identifying and developing strategies for attracting, recruiting and enrolling academically talented students from Baltimore City with a strong focus on those attending the public schools. Specifically, the committee will 1) inform strategies to enhance school and community relations, 2) advise in the development and design of recruitment, admissions, and partnership initiatives to aid in students’ success, 3) work collaboratively with the UMBC community to ensure students and families experience UMBC as an inclusive and supportive campus community where they will grow and learn academically and socially, and 4) provide insight on factors influencing students’ decision to attend UMBC. The advisory group will serve a critical role in supporting the institution’s enrollment goals.

Hispanic and Latinx Students Admissions Advisory Group

Charge

The Hispanic and Latinx Admissions Advisory Group will serve in a consultative capacity to inform the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Orientation on strategies for attracting, recruiting and enrolling academically talented Hispanic and Latinx students. Specifically, the committee will 1) inform strategies to enhance school and community relations, 2) advise in the development and design of admissions publications and the planning and implementation of admissions events and other recruitment activities, 3) work collaboratively with the UMBC community to ensure students and families are well-connected and have a positive experience from recruitment to admissions and from matriculation to graduation, and 4) review data and provide a perspective on factors influencing students’ decision to attend UMBC. The advisory group will serve a critical role in supporting the institution’s enrollment goals.
