The Proscenium Theatre, situated in the Performing Arts and Humanities Building, seats approximately 275 and is home to UMBC Theatre and Dance productions, as well as guest artist performances, lectures, and special events. The theatre features an expansive stage, orchestra and balcony seating, and box seats. The Proscenium Theatre is ADA accessible.
Plan Your Visit
The Proscenium Theatre is located in UMBC’s Performing Arts and Humanities Building, easily recognized by its shiny stainless steel façade with a distinctive “thumbprint,” and the entrance to the theatre is near the “arches” that are visible from the parking area.
Directions
UMBC is easy to visit, and is about 15 minutes from the Inner Harbor area and about 25 minutes from the Washington Beltway. We’re just off I-95 and I-695 with plenty of free parking.
• If you use Apple Maps, search for UMBC Parking Lot 8A. If you’re using Google Maps, search for UMBC Lot 8. [Note: Apple Maps may say Lot 8 is closed, but it’s not!]
• From I-95 between Baltimore and Washington, take Exit 47B and follow signs to Catonsville and UMBC. At the second traffic circle, go 3/4 the way around to join the inner loop of Hilltop Circle. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Hilltop Road (with the PAHB on your right), and then an immediate left into Parking Lot 8.
• From I-695, take Exit 12C, Wilkens Avenue west, and at the first traffic circle go 3/4 the way around to turn onto Hilltop Road. At the traffic light, go straight through Hilltop Circle, and then take an immediate left into Parking Lot 8.

Evening and weekend parking is available in Lot 8, adjacent to UMBC’s Performing Arts and Humanities Building, where the Proscenium Theatre is located.

UMBC Theatre presents Stupid F*cking Bird by Aaron Posner, sort of adapted from The Seagull by Anton Chekhov, with songs by Aaron Posner and James Sugg, directed by Gerrad Alex Taylor. In this irreverent, contemporary, and very funny remix of Chekhov’s The Seagull, Aaron Posner stages a timeless battle between young and old, past and present, art and life. Stupid F*cking Bird will tickle, tantalize, and incite you to consider how art, love, and revolution fuel your own pursuit of happiness.
UMBC Theatre presents Slime by Bryony Lavery, directed by Nigel Semaj. Welcome to the Third Annual Slime Crisis Conference! Seven grad students, all fluent in animal languages, linguistics, and culture, join delegates of almost every species to save life on earth from a toxic slime. As they debate and translate for dolphins, seabirds, and polar bears, they ask, “Who is coming to save us?” The answer might surprise you….
