The 2015 Fiske Guide to Colleges named UMBC as a “Best Buy” university. UMBC was one of only 22 public universities chosen for the list, which includes schools like University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Arizona State University. The “Best Buy” distinction is achieved through academic excellence, affordability and quality of student life.
In the guide, Fiske highlights UMBC’s strengths in the social sciences, visual and performing arts, science and technology. The guide also commends UMBC’s commitment to undergraduate research, meaningful internships, study abroad programs, and entrepreneurship education.
