The Shared Services Center Work Groups have been making major progress over the last six months. We are excited to share some highlights below:
- Phase I Shared Services Centers (SSCs) will begin a “soft launch” as of May 29, 2015. The centers will serve Academic Affairs Other Units (AAOU) and the College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences (CNMS).
- The SSCs will begin with 2-4 staff members each, and will be located in the Shared Services Centers space adjacent to the Dean’s Office in CNMS. (AAOU will move to different space to be determined at a later date.)
- With the assistance of DoIT, an RT system has been developed to facilitate communication between each SSC and the departments it serves.
- Service Partnership Agreements will be established between each SSC, the departments it serves, and Central Administration.
- AAOU will be posting a position for hire in the near future. Look for the posting in early May.
- The TAP website will “soft launch” on May 29th as well. Business Process Improvements not yet completed are scheduled over the next year. Please visit the myUMBC “Shared Services Centers at UMBC” group for additional details.
- Lessons learned from the initial Phase I launch will be incorporated into future Phase II SSCs. No determination has been made as to where the Phase II SSCs will be established. We are waiting until we have several months of experience with the Phase I centers so that lessons learned can be applied to Phase II.
