Pre-Physician Assistant
Undergraduate ProgramsWhy Study Pre-Physician Assistant?
Get on track to become a physician assistant, a growing field within healthcare, and work directly with patients in primary care.
Physician assistants, or PAs, practice medicine on healthcare teams under the supervision of a physician. As certified medical generalists, PAs work in primary care settings to diagnose, treat, and prescribe medicine to patients. Pre-Physician Assistant, as a pre-professional program, is a statement of intent on the student’s part, not an academic major.
Pre-Physician Assistant students pursue a course of study to fulfill requirements for entry into a PA school. Pre-Physician Assistant students complete a bachelor’s degree at UMBC while completing preparation coursework to fulfill requirements for further study at a PA school at another institution.
