About
Dr. Zhu received his dual B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Computational Science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 1986, his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University in 1988, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 1994. He received ten major NSF research grants, including a coveted CAREER award, and many state and industrial grants. He was elected a Fellow of ASME in 2010, and has served as an Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Vibration and Acoustics (2007-2014) and ASME Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control (2020-), as a Subject Editor of the Journal of Sound and Vibration (Dec. 2017-June 2020), and as a Topical Associate Editor of Nonlinear Dynamics (Jan. 2021-). He has 400 SCI-indexed archival journal publications and 13 issued U.S. patents. He is a recipient of the 2020 University Systems of Maryland Board of Regents Faculty Award for Excellence in Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activities, and the 2024 ASME Rayleigh Lecture Award for pioneering contributions in acoustics and vibrations.Research interests
