D. Younis is currently a professor and chair of the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering department at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), USA. He is a recognized scholar in the area of network architectures and protocols, Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber-physical Systems and applications of artificial intelligence. Before joining UMBC, he was with Honeywell International Inc., where he led multiple projects for building dependable computing infrastructure. He also participated in the development of the Redundancy Management System, which is a key component of the Vehicle and Mission Computer for NASA’s X-33 space launch vehicle. He has published over 380 technical papers in refereed conferences and journals. His contribution is acknowledged by over 27 thousand citations of his work, his high h-index (65) and receiving the 2024 IEEE Achievement and Recognition Award by the IEEE Technical committee on IoT, Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks. He is serving (and served) on the editorial board of reputable journals and the organizing and technical program committee of leading conferences. Dr. Younis is a Fellow of the IEEE and the IEEE communications society.
