Research interests
Biology: I am interested in uncovering the mechanical and molecular mechanisms that drive tissue development. In particular, I investigate how hydrostatic pressure and cytoskeleton generate forces and utilize biochemical signalling to ensure the proper shaping and sizing of organs during development.Interdisciplinary & Metascience: I am interested in examining the science of how research itself is conducted, as well as the social contexts in which it takes place, with the goal of informing institutional policies in an evidence-based manner. In particular, I focus on the relationships between the higher education workforce, technology, innovation, and social inequalities.
Teaching interests
I teach BIOL635L and BIOL636L: Advanced Molecular Biology Labs in the AMB Graduate Program. I am also interested in teaching Cell and Molecular Biology as well as Developmental Biology courses and labs.In addition to biology, I am interested in and have experience teaching interdisciplinary courses such as From Lab to Governance, Social Dimensions of Biomedical Research, and The Future of Research. These courses are delivered at the intersection of biomedical research enterprise, sociology, ethics, and science policy.
