About
Dr. Gobbert joined UMBC in 1997. He has graduated eight PhD and seven MS students, worked with more than 12 UMBC undergraduate students on research, plus many more in several REU Sites. Dr. Gobbert has more than 200 publications including 40 in peer-reviewed journals and 40 in refereed conferences. He is very active in shared governance on campus and endeavors to improving this teaching by working with the Faculty Development Center at UMBC.Research interests
- Scientific computing and parallel algorithms for computing clusters and other architectures- Machine learning techniques for applications of Big Data in science and engineering
- Multiscale modeling and numerical simulation of chemically reactive flows
- Numerical methods for stationary and time-dependent partial differential equations
- Applications in the life sciences, computational biology, engineering, statistics, and other areas
