Research interests

For my research agenda I have 3 main topics that I’m interested in. I am primarily a concertpianist, but I also have a primary research area in piano instruction, with an interest in arrangingfor contemporary ensembles.So I approach these 3 strategies in various ways. Over the next 5 years, I plan to release my nextsolo album and perform it locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. I am interested inwriting and publishing a book, and I would like to publish my arrangements for piano/percussionto expand the repertoire for contemporary small ensembles.The solo record, which will be my 5 th album in total and my 3rd solo album, will highlightcontemporary American composers, including a few world premieres. My previous album
focused on music from my country, representing cultural heritage, and the 20 th century Georgianclassical composers. Which was featured in Billboard. And I think it would be fitting to representin the next album, the music of my second home, the United States.For the book, I am planning on writing an overview of various memorization techniques thathelp musicians memorize complex pieces of music. What inspired me for the book is that I’vebeen performing all these massive works like the ROS, Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre, thesevery long and complex pieces constantly from memory (BOOM). I go and do masterclasses allover and the same question always comes up “how did you put that in your head?” There’s ademand for the book. I do my best to convey as much information as possible in that 10-15 min Ican give to that student when I’m there. But I also realized that I want to dive deep into this. I’mreally interested in neuroscience, so I started reading about the latest studies and the way ourbrain processes and retains information. I started structuring the book and I want to give peopleaccess to this information without them needing necessarily having access to me. I want this toexist there. This book would provide a useful resource for the course that I have recentlydeveloped, “Memorization techniques for Musicians.”And for the arrangements, I would like to publish the 6 arrangements that I have made formarimba and piano and vibraphone and piano. These arrangements are Bach’s the art of fugueno. 9, Gershwin’s 3 piano preludes Khorumi, a Georgian dance and Philip Glass etude no. 11.To fund these projects, I would involve my record label to cover the costs of post-production andapply for national and state grants for writing the book.
