K. Lira Yoon, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Human Services Psychology (HSP) Program (clinical psychology). She received her doctoral degree from Northwestern University. Prior to joining UMBC in 2020, she was a member of faculty at the University of Maine and later at the University of Notre Dame.Research interests
Dr. Yoon’s research program focuses on the interplay between cognition and emotion in the context of psychological disorders, especially depression and anxiety disorders. Her research program attempts to integrate biological and psychological lines of inquiry to gain a better understanding of the roles that biased processing of emotional information (e.g., attention, interpretation, working memory), stress reactivity (e.g., cortisol, heart rate variability), and emotion regulation play in the onset and maintenance of emotional disorders.Teaching interests
