Chapin holds a PhD in history from the University of Virginia. She has published articles in several leading journals and a book on the U.S. healthcare system, "Ensuring America's Health" (Cambridge University Press, 2015). Chapin has also published on the topics of black-owned business, banking, home mortgage markets, life insurance, corporate social responsibility, women's economic rights and a number of other topics related to the history of capitalism and political economy. Chapin is currently working on a book that explores the history of U.S. finance.
