About
After graduating from high school in 2000, I enlisted in the US Marine Corps as a heavy equipment operator. I was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.I returned to school in 2009 to earn a degree in Physics at UC San Diego. During this time, I participated in research relating to binary stars and experimental cosmology. I also earned a number of scholarships and awards, including the DoD SMART Scholarship.
After graduation, I worked for the DoD as a scientist at the SPAWAR. My research focus was on synthetic imagery generation and applications.
After four years with the DoD, I returned to UCSD to earn my PhD. My research focus was on gravitomagnetism and lunar laser ranging with the APOLLO program.
Since graduating from UCSD in 2023, I have been an Assistant Teaching Professor at UMBC.
Research interests
I am generally not engaged in research as a lecturer. However, when I do, my research interests are in the field of gravitational physics. Specifically, gravitomagnetism and how it relates to orbital dynamics, galactic evolution and cosmology.Teaching interests
My teaching interests are in lower division physics, both laboratory classes and lecture courses. While I enjoy teaching our large service courses, I have an interest in developing courses for non-majors, such as Physics 100 and perhaps a course on energy and the environment.I also have a large interest in educational outreach as a means to develop and maintain an interest in STEM opportunities for junior high and high school students.
