About

Carol Fitzpatrick, Principal Lecturer in English, received a B.A. in English (with Honors) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.A. in English at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. From 1996 to 2009, she was the Director of the Writing and Rhetoric Division of the English Department; she returned to this position from 2015-2021. She is currently the Associate Director of the Writing and Rhetoric Division. She is the co-author of 6 textbooks and 9 subsequent editions.

Research interests

My research interests include Composition and Rhetoric, assessment, tutoring, and technology in the classroom. In addition, I have written 6 textbooks on basic and developmental reading and writing.

Teaching interests

Composition and Rhetoric, Advanced Composition, Grammar, Southern Literature, Nineteenth and Twentieth Century American and British Literature.
