The Baltimore Sun featured two articles on UMBC’s annual update meeting with local community leaders on upcoming campus projects. At this year’s meeting, Joe Rexing, campus architect, shared plans for Phase II of the Performing Arts and Humanities building, a new campus entranceway, events center and interdisciplinary sciences building. UMBC also dedicated 11 acres of land for conservation and received a Tree Campus USA award.
Local leaders, including 1st District Councilman Tom Quirk and Delegate James Malone Jr., expressed enthusiasm for the projects. Malone said, “I am so excited about the new events center being built here. Number one, because the students here will be able to graduate on their own campus and number two because of what it will do for the community.”
