UMBC’s Visual Arts Department is committed to guiding future artists and design professionals to think independently, work entrepreneurially, and implement creative solutions to real world problems. Offering BA, BFA, and MFA degree options, the Visual Arts Department provides a chance for you to explore career options in visual arts and design that will position you for finding a job in today’s market.

Master of Fine Arts in Intermedia and Digital Arts
UMBC’s Intermedia and Digital Arts (IMDA) M.F.A. program is where interdisciplinary artists seek to expand or reinvent their professional practice. The IMDA program is committed to art that poses unique conceptual and social challenges while offering an environment that provides artists a studio, teaching opportunities, courses in emerging methods, contemporary art and theory, engaged faculty, premier visiting artists, and high-end research centers that are typical of a research university.
