Brandon Woody in Concert

In conjunction with Somewhere Over the Rainbow of Row Homes, We Fly, an intergenerational group exhibition organized by curator Angela N. Carroll, the Center for Art, Design, and Visual Culture presents Brandon Woody in concert, alongside a public projection of The Unveiling of God/a love letter to my forefathers by NIA JUNE + Kirby Griffin + APoetNamedNate.

Brandon Woody is a Baltimore-born, Blue Note Records trumpeter and composer whose music explores themes of love, resilience, and community. Since releasing his acclaimed 2025 debut album, For The Love Of It All, Woody has been hailed by The New York Times and The Washington Post for his expressive tone and self-assured artistry. He has performed at major global venues, including the Newport and North Sea Jazz Festivals, and collaborated with artists such as Robert Glasper and Solange Knowles, as well as international brands like Calvin Klein and Vogue. Deeply rooted in his hometown, Woody continues to use music as a tool for healing and connection through both his performances and dedicated community work.

NIA JUNE is a published poet, filmmaker, and arts educator recognized as Baltimore magazine’s Best Poet and Best Filmmaker. Her directorial work, including the award-winning A Black Girl’s Country and The Unveiling of God, has been acquired by the Baltimore Museum of Art and screened internationally. A proud Baltimore native, she is a recipient of the Rubys Artist Grant and the Saul Zaentz Fellowship for her impactful contributions to the local art community.

Kirby Griffin is a self-taught filmmaker and photographer from West Baltimore who specializes in visual storytelling that centers on local culture and arts. His documentary and narrative work explores themes of healing and history, capturing projects ranging from live music to short films. His collaborative work, including A Black Girl’s Country and The Unveiling of God, is currently held in the Baltimore Museum of Art’s collection.

APoetNamedNate is a multifaceted Baltimore-based artist whose work spans poetry, music production, filmmaking, and creative direction. He is well-known for producing the Charm City Slam and for his co-directing and musical contributions to award-winning short films showcased internationally. Additionally, he is the author of Anticipational Love Poems, a collection exploring themes of love and desire, and continues to use his diverse creative talents to impact the community.

Visitor Information

The Fine Arts Building Amphitheatre is located directly outside the CADVC.

Admission is free.

The CADVC is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 12 to 5 p.m., and Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
