Bartleby 50+ Exhibition
Date: April 7 - May 22
Location: Albin O. Kuhn Library Rotunda

In celebration of a historic UMBC undergraduate publication and the university’s Arts+ initiative, the Bartleby 50+ exhibition presents a retrospective of works from the undergraduate creative arts journal, published since 1972. (An early iteration, The Red Brick, saw a single issue published in 1969.) Bartleby remains a vital part of our campus community as a voice for undergraduate student creativity, including fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, and art.
The exhibition will feature selections of photographs, poems, and posters, all created by undergraduate artists originally published in Bartleby. Additionally, archival issues of the journal will be on display. Both the exhibition opening and offsite reading will include alumni published in Bartleby, who will read and discuss their work. The exhibition opening will also include a catered reception, remarks from the curatorial team and Student Affairs leadership, and the opportunity to explore the publication’s history through interpretive works, ephemera, and more.
