Todd A. Karner, BSN, MHA, DHA, FACHE is an Assistant Teaching Professor and Assistant Graduate Program Director in the Health Informatics program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). With over 20 years of executive leadership experience in population health, healthcare technology, and value-based care, Dr. Karner brings a wealth of industry expertise to his teaching and mentorship.Before joining UMBC, Dr. Karner held senior leadership roles at Lumeris, Health Catalyst, Caravan Health, and Cerner, where he led business development, strategic partnerships, and sales initiatives for hospitals, health systems, and ACOs nationwide. His research and professional focus center on healthcare analytics, risk-based contracting, and the application of AI in population health management.
Dr. Karner holds a Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) from Central Michigan University, an MHA from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a BSN from the University of Rochester. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and actively contributes to initiatives in health informatics, population health strategy, and value-based care innovation
