About
I hold a BA and a MA degrees from University of Quebec at Montreal in Canada. I obtained a MAS degree from University of Paris 7, and a PhD from the University of Lyon 2, France. I was then awarded a three year post-doctoral fellowship at La Trobe University in Australia. Before coming to UMBC, I was Adjunct Professor at the University of Quebec at Montreal.Research interests
I work on languages exhibiting very different typological profile, ranging from a mildly agglutinative language where meaning plays a large role in the grammar (Kwoma, East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea), to a polysynthetic language exhibiting an intricate morphological system (Innu, Northeastern Quebec and Labrador in Canada), to an isolating language making use of complex syntactic constructions (Fon, Republic of Benin), and to languages formed by the contact between West-African languages and European languages (Caribbean Creoles).Teaching interests
