Dr. Dongchul Kim received a Ph.D. and MS in Atmospheric Chemistry (2004 and 2001) from the University of Nevada Reno/Desert Research Institute, Reno, NV. After graduation he worked as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Science at MIT where he developed a multi-mode multi-moment aerosol model online coupled with NCAR CAM. In 2008, he served as a research scientist at NOAA/NCEP for two years. Since 2010, he joined NASA/GSFC as a research scientist at GEST/UMBC in 2010 and GESTAR/USRA in 2011. He is currently affiliated with GESTAR-II/UMBC as a senior research scientist.
Research interests
His main research interest is to investigate global and regional atmospheric composition and distribution using numerical modeling and observation data. His current research interests are to study aerosol optical property, long range transport, aerosol impact to climate using global and regional scale models and observation data, focusing on mineral dust.
