About

Corrie Francis Parks specializes in sand animation and other esoteric animation techniques. Her work maintains an organic connection to natural materials and traditional production methods while fully integrating digital technology.

Research interests

My research interests include the integration of traditional and digital mediums in animation, specifically related to under the camera techniques. Combining the physical materials of sand and paint with digital effects in an indistinguishable collage, the black and white purity of traditional sand animation becomes a flurry of color and dimensionality. I strive to be not only relevant but accessible to a general audience by creating emotive characters entwined in a deep and subtle narrative structure. My aim is to reach the hearts of my audience while simultaneously propelling animation forward into new visual and contextual territory.

Teaching interests

I am interested in growing artists that recognize and create innovative animated movement through and understanding of animation fundamentals, innovative and experimental production methods, and artistic entrepreneurship.
