Professor Charles Ichoku

About

Dr. Charles Ichoku is a Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Systems (GES) and the Director of the Goddard Earth Sciences Technology and Research (GESTAR II) Center at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC). From 2018 to 2023, he was a Professor of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Howard University, in Washington, DC. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Ichoku worked as a Research Physical Scientist at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), where he was involved in a variety of Earth Science research and related programs for 20 years (1998–2018). Dr. Ichoku obtained his Ph.D in Earth Sciences from the Sorbonne Universités – Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France.
