Dr. J. Alan Yeakley earned his PhD from the University of Virginia in 1993. He joined the faculty at Portland State University in 1994, and where he co-founded the Department of Environmental Science & Management, and later served as Director of the School of the Environment. In 2016, he was hired as Professor and Chair in the Dept of Geography and Environmental Systems. In 2023 was named Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS), and in 2025 he assumed the role of Associate Dean for Research & Community Engagement in CAHSS.Research interests
