Ancient Studies Reunion Luncheon at UMBC!

Dr. Lane & Wes Bittner investigating Mycenaean (ca.1300-1200 BCE) agricultural practices in Boiotia, Greece. As an undergraduate Wes conducted research on the Mycenaeans under Dr. Lane?s direction.
ANCS Trip to Turkey 2011
The highlight of the Ancient Studies trip to Turkey in 2011 was a visit to the Greek and Roman site of Ephesos. Ancient Studies majors can apply for scholarships for the annual study/travel program.
Museum Studies Class
ANCS students, in a class led by field archaeologist Esther Read, gain first-hand knowledge by working with artifacts from the Spiro Artifact Collection. The donor, Dr. Spiro, meets with the students.
Ancient Studies in Italy 2012
After preparatory classes at UMBC starting in late January, participants traveled to Southern Italy and Sicily leaving on March 16 (from Dulles Airport) and returning on March 24 (to Dulles).
