Why Major in Public Health?

Make a difference for vulnerable populations.

UMBC’s Public Health program teaches students to track and monitor the spread of disease, screen for disease, and provide preventive services like vaccinations for vulnerable and underserved groups. In today’s world, communicating important health information to both small and large audiences is more important than ever. The Public Health B.A. offers three tracks of study: Health Administration, Health Policy, and Population Health.

You will graduate with a strong set of skills in research, communication, and policy that will prepare you for a career in non-clinical medical settings in hospitals and care facilities, government organizations, nonprofit organizations, and private healthcare.
