Why Study Health Information Technology?

UMBC’s program is great for both information technology (IT) professionals who want to transition into the healthcare field and healthcare professionals who want to prepare for a future-focused IT career.

UMBC’s Health Information Technology (IT) program prepares experienced working professionals to fill a range of opportunities within the healthcare profession. This is a great program for people who enjoy working in a multidisciplinary, collaborative field. Courses cover, among other topics, informatics, data analytics, and databases as well as policy, administration, law, and ethics. Undergraduate students can pursue an accelerated bachelor’s/master’s degree, and graduate students can pursue a Master of Professional Studies degree. The master’s program in Health IT caters to the working professional who is looking to expand their opportunities in the workforce with courses in a hybrid (blend of in-person and online learning) or online format.
