The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in the Social Dimensions of Health is designed for college graduates who wish to understand the role of social dimensions on health outcomes.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificates in the Nonprofit Sector, Social Dimensions of Health, and Applied Social Research Methods are offered either separately or as part of the M.A. program. Each certificate consists of 4 courses. These courses also count toward the M.A. degree, which permits M.A. students to complete the certificate without taking additional courses.

What Are My Career Options Studying Social Dimensions of Health?

The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in the Social Dimensions of Health is designed for college graduates who wish to understand the role of social dimensions on health outcomes. The certificate is open to students with a bachelor’s degree in ANY undergraduate major. Courses may be applied to the Master of Arts program in Applied Sociology if admitted.

The four courses in the certificate program provide an understanding of health and health disparities based on systematically examining relationships with social dimensions. Classes are offered at various times throughout the day to accommodate different schedules. Most courses are offered at 4:30-7:00 pm one day per week to accommodate students with full-time employment or other obligations.

Students can enter the program either in the fall or spring semesters. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until August 1st for Fall admission and January 1st for Spring admission. Goal Statement

  • Official Transcript, showing:* Conferral of Bachelor’s degree

    * Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0

Writing Sample

  • From coursework in sociology or a related discipline. Applicants can submit any course paper, thesis, or capstone project that best represents their skills in research and writing.

Resume

  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
