Why Study Applied Mathematics?

Weather and climate forecast, intricate mechanisms of cellular and systems biology, stability of bridges and buildings, spread of infectious diseases and the behavior of the stock market are examples of real world problems that concern applied mathematicians. Mathematical models and their theory are at the heart of the quantitative and qualitative studies of such systems.

A PhD in Applied Mathematics will provide you with advanced state of the art knowledge in the modeling, analysis and scientific computation of such systems. This expertise opens a wide array of career choices in academia, industry and government, with opportunities to contribute to pressing societal challenges.
