Why Earn Your Certificate in Healthcare Emergency Management?
A Certificate in Healthcare Emergency Management can help current and aspiring EMS providers and managers, emergency managers, clinicians and healthcare workers to develop specialized emergency management skills in the healthcare setting, and prepare to lead healthcare entities to respond to natural disasters, pandemics, hospital surges, cyberattacks, violence, warfare, and the threat of chemical/biologic/nuclear attacks.
In 2016, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued an Emergency Preparedness Rule, supported by The Joint Commission (the US national healthcare accrediting body), requiring that each healthcare provider have its own set of Emergency Preparedness regulations incorporated into its set of conditions that encompass: hazard identification and mitigation, risk assessment, leadership and crisis communications, training, strategic planning, preparedness, response, and recovery: all components emphasized in the Healthcare Emergency Management Certificate.
