Scholarship Eligibility
Maryland Residency
Must be a current Maryland resident to qualify for this scholarship opportunity
Master’s Degree Admission
Complete an application and be admitted to any master’s degree program at UMBC
Enrollment Period
Available for students enrolling in Fall 2026 and Fall 2027 academic years
How the Scholarship Works
Year 1 – Fall 2026
Receive $500 per semester during your first year of enrollment (Fall 2026 and Spring 2027)
Year 2 – Fall 2027
Continue receiving $500 per semester during your second year of enrollment (Fall 2027 and Spring 2028)
Total Scholarship Value
$2,000 distributed across four semesters to support your graduate education journey
UMBC Alumni Bonus!
This scholarship can be combined with our $1,000 alumni scholarship for even greater support
What You Need to Know
Application Process
Maryland residents: Apply to any UMBC master’s program and be automatically considered for one of 70+ competitive scholarships upon admission.
Award Distribution
Scholarship funds are applied directly to your student account at the beginning of each semester ($500 per semester for four semesters).
Important Dates
Available for students beginning their studies in Fall 2026 or Fall 2027. Apply during Free Graduate Application Week (May 27-June 3,2026) to waive your application fee!
Stackable Benefits
This $2,000 scholarship can be combined with the $1,000 UMBC alumni scholarship if you’re a graduate of UMBC undergraduate programs.
