GAME RULES

Each team will consist of five (5) players. You may start the game with a minimum of four (4) players. Free substitution rule will be in effect. In coed play, you must have two females on the court at all times (if you only have one female, you must play with 4 people).

1. A coin flip will determine which direction each team will go to start the game. We will switch ends after each period.

2. When entering the field of play, players must hop over the wall, no going around it.

3. The Game consists of three (3) periods of twelve (12) minutes each with a one (1)-minute rest between periods (running time except the last one [1] minute of each period and the last minute of each overtime period in the playoffs only). During playoffs, overtime periods (10 minutes each) will continue until a “sudden death” winner is determined.

4. A Ten (10) goal mercy rule is effect after the second period and a six (6) goal mercy rule is in effect with two (2) minutes left in the game.

5. Each team will have one (1) 45-second time-out for the game. One additional time-out will be awarded for the overtime period. (Timeouts do not carry over to overtime)

6. All apparatus and protrusions are out of play (this includes backboards and supports), which will be blown dead by the referee
a. Face off will be located at the spot closest to the last person to touch the puck before it went out.

7. When playing the puck, goalies may not throw the puck to a teammate past the mid-court line.
a. No drop kicking the ball
b. A five (5) second count will result in a face-off
c. Goalies can not come out past the mid court line
d. The goalie can cover a ball outside of his crease as long as he first establishes position in the crease and makes a move on the puck from the crease (can not run out and cover the ball anywhere)

i. C. & D. Foot Note
1. Face-offs will be held at one of the nine (9) designated areas.
2. Goalie Covers – Red Corner (4)

a. In coed play if a female scores, it will count as two points instead of one.

12. The puck may be played in the crease as long as no stick or body is brought into contact with the goalie that may impede his ability to play the puck. (It does not matter if the goalie has control of puck or not.)

13. On a face-off the ball must touch the ground before a player makes contact with it or the opponents stick. If an infraction occurs, the result will be a new face-off with the offending player being removed from the circle.

14. Sticks may not be lifted and/or raised above the waist at any time. At no time can 50% of your stick come above your waist. This is a high sticking call – [60 second penalty and direct hit for non-offending team.
