Registration remains open during the schedule adjustment period (the first four days of summer session). See registration tips for details on how to enroll.

Schedule Adjustment Period Dates:

  • Summer Session I: May 26 - May 29
  • Summer Session II: July 6 - July 9

Add a course:

  • Registration for summer session courses remains open during the schedule adjustment periods.
  • Once classes begin, check with the instructor before adding a new course to ensure that you can make up missed work.
  • The instructor reserves the right to deny late registration in classes that have already met.
  • Courses added during the schedule adjustment period will be assessed a non-refundable $20 late registration fee.

Drop a course:

  • If you drop a course during the schedule adjustment period, you will receive a pro-rated refund based on the date the course is dropped.
  • Courses dropped during the schedule adjustment period are not considered an attempt.
  • If a course is dropped after the schedule adjustment period, the transcript will reflect a "W" for the course.

Swap a course:

  • During the schedule adjustment period, you can simultaneously add and drop a class (same number of credits) with no financial penalty.
  • Check with the instructor before adding a new course to ensure that you can make up missed work.
  • The instructor reserves the right to deny late registration in classes that have already met.
  • Be sure to add the new class to your schedule before dropping the old class.

Schedule changes after the schedule adjustment period:

After the schedule adjustment period, registration is closed, and most schedule adjustments will require Registrar's Office assistance.

Dropping a course
  • You can drop a course through myUMBC after the schedule adjustment period up through a designated deadline date each session (see “last day to drop courses with a grade of "W" on your transcript”).
  • Dropping a course after the schedule adjustment period is considered a course attempt.
  • Your transcript will reflect a grade of "W" for the dropped course.
  • There is no financial refund for the course.
  • After the last day to drop courses with a grade of "W," the only way to drop a course is to withdraw from the session entirely (drop all courses in the summer session term).
Changing Grade Method
Withdrawing from the Semester

  • The Registrar's Office will drop all courses in the summer session.
